Zigtebra Press Materials
Bio
Zigtebra is Zebra (Emily Rose) and Tiger (Joseph). They are half-siblings who met in Chicago at the end of 2010 while performing in the Pure Magical Love dance troop. Immediately drawn to one another, they found themselves on an investigative journey of lineage culminating in the discovery of shared blood. “Zigtebra” was born as a lifetime adventure to co-llaborate. Armed with a cassette of collected songs (The Pink Line), they set off across America on a summer road trip/tour. When they returned to Chicago they locked themselves up at Observatory Studios and recorded new material for their first studio album The Brave, released in late 2014.
In their six years as a band, Zigtebra have steadily developed a passionate following in their hometown of Chicago, having shared the stage with artists including Oh Wonder!, Calvin Johnson, The Do, HXLT, Sam Trump, Playboy Manbaby, ONO, and White Mystery. They have also done multiple two- and three-month US tours, leaving a trail of love-struck admirers in their wake wherever they go.
In 2017, Zigtebra will release a new song and video on the first of every month. Keep tabs on the project here. The summer months will find them on tour throughout the US.

Each song takes uncomplicated instrumentation and combines with it catchy melodies and resonant vocals. The album in-and-of itself is a breath of fresh air, a reminder that not all music has to be balls-to-the-walls garage punk. As you can see by Zigtebra’s The Brave, it can be a little more thoughtful and deliberate, and exponentially more engaging.
If you’d like to dance in your underwear, then head to Zigtebra’s Bandcamp page where the Chicago duo made up of Emily Rose and Joe Zeph has spent the springtime sprinkling blissed-out droplets of synth-heavy pop all over its corner of the Internet.

Zigtebra have shown that a project born from an initial date in which the duo first realised they were related, really has the potential to create something equally weird and wonderful.
